School sponsorship
Education is and will remain a major focus of our project. All our children who are registered with us now attend the local Khmer school full time, with the help of our school sponsorship program they alos attend English classes. Since many of our kids have never gone to school, we also offer daily Khmer tutoring so that they’re able to catch up to their appropriate grade. We also run English classes on our campus. We currently have 7 classes through out the day and one computer class.
English is becoming more and more the language of choice by employers in Sihanoukville, a fast growing tourist destination by the sea. CCPP sees the importance of this second language for future employment opportunities for our kids so we now offer our English classes to every child who comes on a regular basis to our center. They get into classes firstly and then we look for sponsors of the children who continue to come on a daily basis. We also have a nursery to take care of the babies so the siblings can go to school. Usually it is the girls who have to drop out of school to take care of the younger siblings. We employ a nanny , Peach who is also a mother that previously struggled with poverty.
