Social Outreach program
Our staff consists of two social workers who work as outreach officers working with the families of our kids. It is imperative to understand the family situation, living conditions and reasons behind why the children are not at school. Many times it is the family that is dependent on the child to earn the money for food and shelter. Our staff social workers enable us to work together with the families, helping them to understand of the benefits of attending school and receiving an education.
Food, medical, dental
We offer two nutritious meals a day to our often malnourished children as well as two snacks for those in school. We also have a rice and food supplement program for a number of families who would otherwise go hungry. We have a weekly rice program for some families to help them stretch their money over the week and to insure no child goes hungry. And another program which supplies protein daily fro families who would otherwise just have rice.
We also provide medical assistance and dental care though M’lop Tapang services and in private clinics, when necessary. We have a small first aid station at the center for minor cuts and scrapes and in the case of accidents or hospital care we take care of the expense. We also have tooth brushing as part of our daily routine.
CCPP also provides children with clothing when required and all kids are provided footwear, flip flops!
Nursery
Our nursery meets the need of impoverished families who rely on their children to provide childcare. It usually falls on the oldest girl to take care of the babies so the parents can work.
This means they miss out on school and eventually the girls usually who have to drop out of school to take care of the younger siblings. We employ a nanny , Peach who is also a mother that previously struggled with poverty, to take care of these children in our especially appointed nursery room.
We have a bike program supplying bikes to those who live far away from the school. And a weekly bike repair service for those bikes that fall into a state of disrepair using a trainee from the M’lop Tapang’s bike program.
Karate
We have a great program being run by a Black Belt karate instructors, Patrick and Mhy. We have a number of children who have earned their green belt and white belts over the last 6 months. It is run over the lunch hour and is very popular. It teaches discipline and rewards the children’s individual efforts.
